LION KILLS FEMALE INTERN AT CALIFORNIA BIG CAT PARK

Dianna Hanson, 24, who had just started interning at California's cat haven in January, was attacked and killed by one of the park's lion in the animal enclosure. A worker tried unsuccessfully to lure the lion into another pen before sheriff's deputies shot and killed it. It was not clear what Hanson was doing in the enclosure. The lion was a 4-year-old male named Cous Cous, It has been raised at the cat haven since it was 8 weeks old. The associated press (AP) said at least 21 people have been killed and 240 injured by exotic cats in the United States since 1990. It was the first attack in California since 2007, when a siberian tiger leapt out of its pen at San Francisco zoo and killed a 17-year boy. - NBC NEWS
