Father accidentally shoots, kills 10 month old son

A 10-month-old boy was shot and killed by his father in a Nashville, Tenn., hotel room on Thursday in an apparent accident. The baby was shot once in the chest with a semi-automatic handgun by his father, Larry Bass, 30, according to the Nashville Tennessean. Ten-month-old Adam Bass would have turned 1 in May. The mother of the baby, Jacqueline Bass, 28, and the couple’s other sons, ages 3 and 2, witnessed the gun discharge while the father handled it. Police spokesman Don Aaron told the Nashville Tennessean that the family was “very, very distraught over what’s happened” and that “the police department does not believe this was an intentional act.” The incident took place at the Extended Stay America hotel near Nashville International Airport. The family, reportedly from Texas, checked in on Jan. 29. They were in town while Larry was working on the contruction of the Music City Center, the 1.2 million square-foot convention center.
