Kids help stop speeding car when dad becomes unconscious

PEORIA, Ariz. -
A couple of courageous kids have been honored for their quick actions to save their father's life, as well as others, while speeding down the Loop 101.
Operator: "911 where's your emergency?"
Kylah: "I'm in the car with my dad right now and his blood sugar is low and I can't control the car."
It was a terrifying ride for 13-year-old Kylah Woody and her 11-year-old brother Michael. The two were riding on the Loop 101 with their father when he began to fade in and out of consciousness.
With their car traveling at a high speed, and their father's foot stuck on the gas, Kylah and Michael called 911 and quickly jumped into action.
Kylah: "My brother is holding the wheel right now, we're passing Harkins Theaters right now, we're by Bell Road."
Operator: "How fast are you guys going right now?"
Kylah: "We're going almost 90."
Operator: "Almost 90?"
Kylah: "Yeah."
The 911 operator also had to think quickly to figure out exactly where the car was and which direction they were traveling.
While staying extremely calm, the operator began asking Kylah about which exits they were passing -- and instructing them on how to get the car to slow down.
Operator: "Just tell me everything you see as you pass it. I'm trying to figure out where you're at now. Just tell me any updates, how fast you're going, just try as best you can to pull his foot off that gas."
After traveling at 90 miles an hour for over 10 miles -- the operator was able to direct Kylah and her brother Michael off the freeway and to a complete stop.
A DPS officer arrived and was able to take control of the situation.
Monday, both Kylah and Michael were presented with a bravery award -- as well as the 911 operator who helped guide them to safety. Their father was treated for his low blood sugar and is doing fine.
