Newly-weds start married life in jail after honeymoon thieving spree to pay for trip They turned to crime to pay for the seaside holiday but were caught within hours of raiding a pensioner’s home, a court heard I spree wed: Amy Marshall A newly-wed couple are starting married life in jail after a thieving spree on their honeymoon. Gary Young, 41, and 29-year-old Amy Marshall turned to crime to pay for the seaside holiday, a court heard. But the pair were caught within hours of raiding a pensioner’s home as she looked on terrified. Young told the 81-year-old widow he was a carer sent to check on her. But he then ransacked her flat. He and Marshall fled with her bank cards and mobility scooter key. Heroin habit: Gary Young Hours earlier, two holidaymakers returning from the beach had spotted Marshall climbing out of their caravan and fleeing with £120 of their cash. The thieves, from Hartlepool, Co Durham, were later caught hiding near the pensioner’s home in Paignton, Devon, after returning to raid it again. Young, who had a heroin habit, was jailed for three years and two months at Exeter crown court. Marshall got 14 months in prison. Judge Phillip Wassall told them: “This offence is aggravated by the fact one victim is an old lady living alone.”
