THE Department of the State Security (DSS) Tuesday handed over 13-year old Daniel Oikhena who attempted to stowaway in an Arik plane that eventually landed in Lagos instead of his intended America, to the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
But his mother, Evelyn Oikhena, said she has been denied access to her son. Journalists were also denied access to the boy at the DSS office in Benin. It was observed that he was handed over to the Ministry of Women Affairs amidst tight security at about 12 p.m.
When the mother of the boy visited the ministry, she was also not allowed to see him and she later lamented to newsmen, saying “I was not allowed to see my son at the SSS office when I was told he was there. I went there but they said they had taken him to the Ministry of Women Affairs. I was given a number to call but there has been no response.”
The Guardian gathered as at the time of filing this report  that the ministry was making arrangement for the boy to meet with Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
