Ozekhome’s release imminent – Brother

AUCHI— AS Iviukwe community, Agenebode, in Weppa Wano clan of Estako East Local Government Area of Edo State waits for the release of their son,  Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, by his abductors, his elder brother, Chief Pius Ozekhome, has denied rumours that he has been released.
He, however, expressed hope that his younger brother would soon be set free just as he added that God was on top of the situation.
He said: “I am not aware that Mike has been released, but we are working around the clock to ensure that he is released as soon as possible.  I am aware that the other abductee, Athanasius Ugbome, who was kidnapped with him, has been released. So, the people now assumed that Mike was also freed.”
Meanwhile, unconfirmed report has it that his driver was released, yesterday, and was dropped at a town very close to Agbor in Delta State.
However, Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Moses Eguavoen, when contacted, said he was not aware of the release of the driver as he was yet to be briefed.
Similarly, the Estako Citizens Club, in a resolution at the end of its emergency meeting, yesterday, appealed for Ozekhome’s unconditional release.
While condemning the kidnap of the Lagos-based legal practitioner, the club, in a statement by its President Prof. Eric Omogbai, noted that Chief Ozekhome, as a legal practitioner and a human rights activist, has served this country selflessly and does not deserve to go through his current ordeal.
“His relentless fight for the welfare of the people and the downtrodden is enough reason for his captors to release him unconditionally,” the Club said.
