Elizabeth Fowler, 16, sheds tears during a television interview shortly after Sherri Rhoney was found shot in the head.
A North Carolina teen and his girlfriend were booked on an attempted murder rap for shooting the boy’s mother in the head — after the tearful girlfriend choked back tears at the scene, claiming she didn’t know what happened.
Elizabeth Fowler, 16, wept in front of a news camera soon after Sherri Rhoney — the mother of her 17-year-old boyfriend, Daniel Rhoney — was found bleeding outside her Catawba County home on Wednesday.

Daniel Rhoney, 17, the victim’s son, and his girlfriend, Elizabeth Fowler, 16, were each charged with attempted murder.
“She’s a very helpful woman,” Fowler told WSOC-TV. “I’m seven months pregnant and she has done everything for me and my child. I can’t believe somebody would hurt her.”
But the wounded mother, who was saved after an off-duty sheriff’s deputy spotted her lying on the ground, briefly woke at the hospital and told investigators who shot her, the station reported.

The county’s sheriff, Coy Reid, said Fowler was merely shedding crocodile tears in front of the camera.
“They lied to you,” Reid said. “No doubt in my mind about that.”
