Doctor tells police that her patient is a paedophile to stop him acting on sick urges

A psychiatrist exposed a patient as a paedophile by revealing he was sexually attracted to schoolgirls.
Dr Ruth Bagshaw broke normal patient confidentiality rules and went to police because she was worried about sick urges Gareth Jordan, 55, told her he was having, a court heard.
Prosecutor Nicola Harris said: “Dr Ruth Bagshaw approached police with concerns over Jordan.
"He had been to see her and she was extremely concerned by what he had told her. Her duties under the Children Act overrode patient confidentiality.”
After Dr Bagshaw reported Jordan, police found 844 indecent images of levels one to three and 62 film clips of levels one to four at his home, Merthyr Tydfil crown court heard. Level five is the worst.
They also discovered 46 pictures of children he had taken while stalking them around Cardiff.
Children’s clothing and underwear he had bought to “replicate” his vile fantasies were found in a drawer.
Jordan had already been caught with a number of sick images and films in an earlier raid by police at his home, after colleagues reported their concerns.
The paedophile previously pleaded guilty to 26 counts relating to indecent images of children on June 7.
He was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for five years and made the subject of an indefinite sexual offences prevention order. He was also banned from buying women’s underwear.
He appeared in court last week to admit breaching the order.
He also pleaded guilty to three more counts of possessing indecent images of children and one of making indecent images of children.
Officers went back to his home in Tylorstown, Rhondda, for a routine visit this month and found a computer memory stick with three more images of schoolgirls saved on it, the court heard.
He was not jailed but Judge Richard Twomlow made Jordan the subject of a community order to run alongside the existing order, which expires in June 2016.
He was also ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work and pay a £60 victim surcharge.
Judge Twomlow told him: “The breach was flagrant and deliberate. Any further breach will result in imprisonment.”
