When Obasanjo moved against the then governor D.S.P of Bayelsa with EFCC he paved the way for Jonathan to become the governor of Bayelsa. He single handedly picked Jonathan to be president Yar Adua's vice. When the cabal under Yar Adua tried to stop Jonathan from being the acting president, Obasanjo was among the first group of Nigerians who stood up for Goodluck . In 2011 he lead the presidential campaign train of PDP .
Soon after the 2011 election the cookie  began to crumble between Jonathan and his godfather Obasanjo. There are speculations about what led to the crisis between them but the picture will clearer with time.
