30 years after burglar repays money with interest

HASTINGS, Mich - A person who claims to have stolen 800 dollars from a Barry county store about 30 years ago has repaid the money in cash with interest. The story began when a hard copy letter arrived the news room of channel 8 news, it bore no signature or return address. "I'm asking for help in locating a man that I owe the money" an anonymous person wrote in the letter. In the letter addressed to channel 8 news and sheriff, the writer admitted to breaking into what was then Middle Mart on M-37 just north of Middleville about 30 years ago. The self proclaimed burglar did'nt state the motive, only admitting to stealing from the store. "It was 800 dollars or so" the letter specifies. But the anonymous writer did something those in the reporting business call burying the leads. "I sent some intrist (interest) that is why it is 1,200 he stated. The burglar said going to steal was a mistake and he has been living with guilt all his life for an act committed in his teen.
