Man...daughter dies as jeep plunge into Lagos lagoon

– A man and his daughter on Tuesday morning
drowned in Lagos as a Toyota jeep in which they were
traveling fell off the Ikota Bridge in Ajah and  plunged
into a lagoon. Mr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the General Manager,
Lagos State Emergency Management Agency
(LASEMA), confirmed the incident in Lagos. He said that the man’s wife was thrown out of the
vehicle as it somersaulted before plunging into the
lagoon. The LASEMA official said the accident occurred at
about 1.00 a.m., and that the dead bodies had been
deposited at a mortuary while the woman was taken
to a hospital. “We have recovered the dead bodies and have
transferred them to the appropriate quarters for the
necessary actions. “The woman, rescued at the scene by emergency
officials, has been taken to a hospital for treatment. “Search for the vehicle, an ash Toyota jeep, is still
ongoing. We are doing everything to get it out of the
lagoon,’’ he said. The general manager, who had yet to ascertain the
cause of the accident, urged the state residents to be
safety-conscious. (NAN)
