According to a police report obtained by TMZ, Kelly's mother, Donna Kelly Pratt, told police following the rapper's death that he had taken a combination of cocaine and heroin -- known as a "speedball" -- on Tuesday night. Pratt reportedly took Kelly back to his Atlanta home to recover from the drug use, and paramedics initially responded to Pratt's 911 call on Wednesday afternoon.

Hours before his death, Kelly referenced his wild behavior during a call with Atlanta's 94.5 Streetz Morning Grind radio show. The rapper's mother reportedly told police that Kelly had an "extensive history of drug use."

Officials told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Kelly was found unresponsive, and pronounced him dead after being transported to Atlanta Medical Center. Kelly's death is being investigated as a drug overdose; an autopsy was performed on Thursday morning.

Along with Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith, Kelly scored a huge hit with "Jump" as a member of Kris Kross. The song topped the Hot 100 chart for eight weeks in 1992, after the duo was discovered by Jermaine Dupri, who produced their debut album "Totally Krossed Out."
