Nigeria: Entertainers and their lies

And all liars shall go to hell – Rev 21:8.
Again, I’m going to go out on a limb here to talk
on a subject that may not be very popular or nice
to Nigerian celebs, especially the guilty ones. I
have said it severally that just because someone
is a celebrity doesn’t mean they are smart.
They may have a talent or skill but many of them
are not smart especially when it involves their
finances. The old saying, “your lies will come
back to haunt you” has never been more true
than the recent cases of D’banj, Iyanya and Wizkid
who are being kicked out of their homes after
lying they owned the properties.
The residents of blogosphere boulevard were
stunned when the news broke that D’banj got an
eviction notice from his landlord and was also
said to be highly indebted. Yes, it is hard to
believe that someone of D’banj’s status could
actually be thrown out of his house. But for those
who know that the Nigerian entertainment industry
is built on lies and more lies, it didn’t come as a
surprise or a case of a cranky landlord.
Entertainers are well rehearsed liars. They are not
what they make you believe they are. Even the
upcoming artist with just one song on radio
issues a press release that they’ve bought a
mansion in Lekki Phase One and a Range Sport
SUV?
There was a time when it was strongly whispered
that Don Jazzy and his crew owned Club Jonzing
until the truth came out. You must have also
heard that D’banj owns Koko Lounge. My
brothers and sisters in habit of believing
everything you hear, I wish you all knew how your
favourite celebs laugh in their closet seeing you
swallow the lies like fufu and draw soup. Let me
give an example of how some artistes can be
terrible liars, we were on a tour of five Nigerian
cities with Basketmouth and his then Humour
Unlimited monthly show sponsored by BAT.
When we got to Enugu, a certain artiste was
snoring like a broken trailer exhaust pipe in the
bus on our way from the event centre to the hotel.
I tapped him hoping to stir him up to reduce his
noise but I was shocked when he woke up
immediately swearing that he wasn’t snoring, that
he was only trying to get our reaction. Our
reaction? After snoring for about 20 minutes with
a trail of saliva from one corner of his mouth to
his shirt collar! O’boy some people can lie in
Africa.
Did you hear it on breaking news when Iyanya
bought a house in his dreams? His management
must have thought it was a fantastic promo
strategy then. If only they knew that not far into
the future, Iyanya would be dragged by his balls
across the floor of the internet, and that his
aggrieved brother would take to twitter to inform
everyone that Iyanya had been evicted (not from
Project shame) from his dream mansion.
Yes, it is double wahala for deadi-bodi and the
owner of deadi-bodi but won’t it be tripple wahala
for Oritsefemi and his management when fans
eventually discovered that the N200m mansion he
purportedly bought some months back was
actually bought in his dreams and not in the real
world? How much does he charge per gig and
how long has he been playing these gigs to be
able to afford a mansion of that amount?
Isn’t it wonderful how naija entertainers think their
fans and everyone else is shallow and gullible?
Common sense should tell every artiste that these
lies won’t achieve anything but hurt their careers
in the long run when the truth is eventually
revealed. Like it was revealed this week that
Wizkid’s car hasn’t been paid for. True, some
naija musicians make a lot of money, but not the
kind of money they want you to believe.
Does Oritsefemi look the part of a N200m house
owner even with all his body cream? The telco
brand ambassadors who are being coerced into
lying about their endorsement fees can’t make
such a preposterous claim not to talk of someone
with no endorsement deal. I shivered when I saw
in some blogs over the week that Genevieve just
bought a house in Ghana for a whopping $4m.
This will go down as the grandmother of all lies
told so far.
Genny baybay, you should have asked yourself if
there’s any house worth $4m in the whole of
Ghana, except you bought the Ghana National
Theatre which by the way may not be worth $4m.
These lies are getting dumber by the day. The
worst thing that can happen to any man is
believing his own lies. If we had a system where
entertainers are taxed for their acquisitions, the
ridiculous and unnecessary lies will stop.
They will speak the truth and nothing but the truth
or so help them God. - Punch

THE PROBLEM WITH BEING TOO NICE

The Problem
with Being Too
Nice
by Michael Fertik

Leaders are placed under a tremendous
amount of pressure to be relatable,
human and … nice. Many yield to this
instinct, because it feels much easier to
be liked. Few people want to be the bad
guy. But leaders are also expected to
make the tough decisions that serve the
company or the team’s best interests.
Being too nice can be lazy, inefficient,
irresponsible, and harmful to
individuals and the organization.
I’ve seen this happen numerous times. A
few years ago, a senior staff member of
mine made the wrong hire. This can
happen to anyone, and the best way to
remedy the situation is to address it
quickly. Despite my urging to cut the tie,
this staff member kept trying to make it
work. While I laud the instinct to coach,
fast forward two months later, and we
were undergoing a rancorous – and
unnecessary – transition process. There’s
a key lesson here for any leader. Nice is
only good when it’s coupled with a
rational perspective and the ability to
make difficult choices.
Here are a few other other recognizable
scenarios where being nice isn’t doing
you – or anyone – any favors:
Turning to polite deception. You’ve
been in these brainstorming meetings –
everyone is trying to hack a particular
problem, and someone with power
raises a ridiculous idea. Instead of
people addressing it honestly, brows
furrow, heads nod like puppets on
strings, and noncommittal murmurs go
around. No one feels empowered to
gently suggest why that particular idea
won’t work. At my company, rejecting
polite deception is a big part of how we
do business. When something isn’t right,
we call each other out on it respectfully,
then and there, without delay. Why? It’s
not helpful to foster an everyone-gets-a-
trophy mentality; you have to earn the
honors to get the honors.
The long linger. Sometimes a hire just
won’t cut it in a certain role. It might
seem easier to keep an employee in
place rather than to resolve the
mismatch – but it actually is not. Resist
the temptation to prolong confrontation,
to see if things will get better. It is more
of a disservice to let someone flounder,
especially when it’s clear that he or she
just isn’t hitting the mark. Be kind and
communicate clearly, but don’t be nice .
Be surgical about it. Make the clean cut.
Help the person transition somewhere
he or she can succeed. Handling
employee issues immediately helps your
culture and productivity – over time,
you’ll attract employees with similar
values and convictions.
Don’t be a doormat. When you’re too
nice – to suppliers who can’t deliver on
time, to colleagues who don’t do their
work, to customers who refuse to pay –
you’re actually letting others take
advantage of you and your business.
When you’re overly generous with your
allowances for others, you create a
fertile atmosphere for contempt to
spread. Imagine the reactions of your
most talented, focused, and motivated
employees as they watch lackluster
coworkers get pass after pass. Anger and
resentment take root, morale plummets,
and turnover starts to go up, up, up.
Think of how loyal customers will react
if they see how easy it is for others to
take advantage of your services. Your
reputation will surely suffer. These
problems become more difficult to solve
as they pile up. You don’t need to be
severe to be respected, but you do need
to hold your organization to certain
standards — and you must be firm
about people meeting them. Setting
rules will help you when decisive action
is needed. No more delays, no
demurring, no debating.
Failing the introspection test. Are you
too nice to yourself? Introspection is a
powerful leadership tool, but we often
forget to use it. When you ask yourself
what behaviors hold you and your team
back, you can recalibrate your
leadership style for the better. When
you give employees the space to give
you the hard truths, without fear of
repercussion, you’ll get valuable
perspective and make a giant leap
forward in maturing as a leader.
Of course, this doesn’t mean managers
get a free pass to be disrespectful, cruel,
or a bully in the workplace. There’s a
world of difference between being an
effective leader with high expectations
and dealing with problem after problem
caused by milquetoast management.
Beware of confusing being nice – or
being liked – with being a good leader.

Spirit indeed

Okada rider rapes pregnant
NYSC membe
Men of the Ondo State Police Command have
apprehended a 20-year old suspected rapist, Tumi
Ayileka, who allegedly raped a two months old
pregnant National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
member at Imoru in Ose local government area of
the state.
Ayileka, who claimed to be an Okada rider in the
community, was among the 27 suspected
criminals paraded by the State Commissioner of
Police, Isaac Eke during his monthly press
conference held in Akure, the State Capital.
Eke said the rape victim (name withheld) boarded a
motor cycle from Ifon to Imoru where she was
posted to by the NYSC.
He narrated that the suspected rapist allegedly
dragged the youth corps member into the bush
and raped her.
Confessing to the crime, Ayileka admitted that he
raped the young youth corp member unknowingly.
He said it was his first time of committing the
crime , saying he drove the victim home after the
incident.
According to him, “she approached me around
7.p.m at Ifon that I should take her to Imoru
community where she serves and I obliged after
agreeing on N500 charges fee. On our away going,
I don’t know the spirit that fell on me and I don’t
know when I branched inside the bush and had
carnal knowledge of her.
“Immediately after that incident, the spirit went off
and I was ashamed of myself. I don’t know she
was pregnant before and I even took her home.
Later on, she reported to the Police station and I
was arrested. I don’t know the spirit that fell on
me because I have never done that before”.
The Police Commissioner assured that the suspect
would soon be charged to court as soon as the
judicial workers end their industrial strike.
Eke, also recovered and paraded three suspected
criminals who involved in the snatching of a
N4million BMW car belong to the Permanent
Secretary of Ondo State Oil Producing Areas
Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Sola
Orisanmoluwa at a gun point.

NYSC MEMBER COMMITS SUICIDE OVER GIRLFRIEND

NYSC member commits suicide over
girlfriend
The body of a 26-year-old National Youth Service
Corp, NYSC, member, identified as Ernest, was,
Wednesday, recovered from his one room
apartment after he reportedly took a poisonous
substance.
Reports indicated that the young man, who was in
love with a fellow NYSC member, Chioma Okewuru,
went berserk when the girl came back from her
village over the weekend with a ring from a man
she had promised to marry.
Ernest, who is from Edo State and a graduate of the
University of Benin, was posted to Cross River
State in October, where he met and fell in love with
Chioma, and both were serving in Redemption
Secondary School, Ofombogha 1 in Obubra Local
Government Area of Cross Rivers State.
Mr. Noah Ntuen, Acting Divisional Police Officer for
Obubra told Vanguard on phone: “The girl had told
the guy that she would not marry him, but that
they could be friends. So when she came back
from home last weekend and showed him the ring
her husband-to-be gave her, the young man
became furious.
“On Wednesday, the situation became worse and at
about 7pm, he locked himself in the room and took
some poisonous substances.”
A source in the school told Vanguard: “They met at
the NYSC Orientation Camp at Abrekpe-Ebokpo and
as luck would have it, they were both posted to the
same school where they had a relationship going.
“He had the hope the whole thing would end in
marriage, but Chioma already had another person
she wants to marry.”
Ntuen said the body had been deposited in the
mortuary of Obubra General Hospital, while Chioma
is with the police, where investigations on the
circumstances surrounding the tragic death are in
progress.

PDP has destroyed the economy of Nigeria...... Oshiomhole

Governor Adams Oshiomhole
of Edo State has said the
Peoples Democratic Party-led
Federal Government has
destroyed the nation’s
economy.
Speaking to a coalition of
women from across the 18
local government areas of the
state, led by Evelyn Igbafe,
who paid him a solidarity
visit, Tuesday, Mr.
Oshiomhole said, “PDP has
mismanaged the economy.
You can all see that you need
about N220 now to buy $1.
When PDP took over power
in 1999, $1 was between N60
and N65.
“They have destroyed the
economy. After 16 years PDP
cannot give light to Edo
people and upon the
darkness, they are using their
might to collect what they
call fixed charges from very
poor people and because
there is no light, the woman
that has to grind pepper has
to buy a generator; because
there is no light, the woman
that grinds cassava has to
buy a generator; because
there is no light, the woman
who has to sell articles at
night has to buy a generator.
Mr. Oshiomhole said, “I like
what the Benin leaders are
saying. We cannot say this is
what we have gained from
the PDP and because we are
working, they are very afraid.
When I see the PDP
Chairman of the State
wearing multiple colours and
talking and spend all his time
abusing Oshiomhole, but fails
to spend some minutes to say
what the PDP has done in 10
years, I laugh.
“When you are going now,
pass through the Central
Hospital to see the beautiful work that is
being done there. This is what is giving
the PDP sleepless nights because all the
evil plans they had against that hospital
did not work. Before APC came, PDP
asked students to pay school fees. We
have stopped all of that. If you have two
three children in school and you do not
pay school fees for any of them, is that
not extra savings? Under PDP, they were
paying for schools that didn’t have roofs
and chairs.”
“There are still many things to be done
because the damages done by PDP in ten
years cannot be repaired in six years. I
want to promise you that we will
continue to do our best.”
Earlier, the leader of the women coalition,
Evelyn Igbafe, said they were in
Government House to thank the governor
for the re-appointment of a traditional
ruler, Ehioze Erediauwa, as a member of
Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas
Development Commission, and assured
the governor of their continued support
always.
“We have come to encourage you that you
should continue with your good works in
Edo State, we appreciate your government
and we want APC to continue the good
work and we to assure you that APC is
carry go,” she said.

Life

DUMPED ON VALENTINES DAY IN THE CRUELEST
WAY EVER.
I am really in pains. The whole drama
happened on the 14th of February.
I met this guy by name Chuks in 2011 at a
friend's wedding.We exchanged numbers.After
talking like two weeks he told me he's
been searching for a job over the years,I told him
to forward his CV and let me be on the look out
for him.
In 2012,he started showing interest in me,that he
wanted us to date and so on.I was okay with
that,he was a very nice person. He's funny and
joked a lot.
Along the line in 2013 my uncle who works with
shell company called me and said they wanted an
Engineer that will handle a project, I read
Engineering and
Chuks read Engineering too but I recommended
Chuks to him.he wasn't
comfortable with it but i had to convince him that
he was my fiance because
everybody in the family wanted me to get married.
Two weeks later, chuks got the job.Oh! He was
more than happy. He cried over the
phone thanking me and so on.In 2014 he came to
Abuja to see me,he was on his knees in my room
and said ''sunshine will you marry me''.
some thing I have never heard in my
life.I was more than happy,I couldn't hold my
joy.it was a dream come through.
He started making plans to see my family.Later he
came down to Abia to see my people in
September 2014.it was fun, everybody was happy
for me.He told my family he would like to fix our
traditional and white wedding for April 2015.
They welcomed him as their son.
Fast forward to the last Valentine......Because of
his work,I flew down to Port Harcourt on
the Saturday morning to see the love of my life.He
was dying to see me or so i thought.I was excited
and can't wait to be in his arms.I bought a red
vanilla cake for the occasion.
I got to PH,I called him and told him I was at the
airport and couldn't locate him
,though he promised to pick me up.He said he
was sorry and that I should
pick a cab to his place that he wasn't feeling too
fine to drive.
Oh! Okay Oh! I got to the house and the gate man
opened the gate with smiles but i felt he wanted
to say some thing but he swallowed it.I waved
it off, when I got in I saw my love sitting in the
sitting room,we hugged and kissed each other.I
was still asking him what was wrong
with him..My dear,from nowhere,a young lady that
looked like she was in her early twenties came
out
from the room and landed on Chuks' laps.....I was
like excuse me!
I asked Chuks who the girl was,he said ''that's my
wife''.I just laughed thinking
it was his normal jokes. The young lady then said
''Aunty Chuks is the love of my
life''.I couldn't believe the whole thing.
This man opened his mouth and started
insulting me.I never said a word when he said
the girl was the wife becos i was in shock. The
only thing I told him was,''I thought you
just engaged me last year and we are getting
married in April''?.
He started laughing with the girl.Guess what he
said,He said ''oh! I went to the
motor park to bring my so called father, mother
and relatives I came
with to see your parents''.He said he shopped for
them and paid them to
carry out the plan.I couldn't believe myself.He
said a lot.I started
crying and he and the girl pushed me out.Carried
my cake and splashed on my
face.As if that one didn't go well he then released
his two dogs to
bite me.Chai! It is well.
He knew I hated dogs.Stella dear, the dog finished
me I was screaming. The gate man was trying to
help me he was stopping him.The gate man got
angry and pulled the dogs away.My body was full
of blood.I couldn't cry again. My dress tore and he
was busy laughing at me calling me old hag.Well I
am just 32,I am not old.
Thank God for the gate man,I was looking like a
mad person.The cake on my
head and face with the torn cloths and the dog
bite.I was in pains.The
gate man helped and cleaned me up.After he got
a cab that took me to
the hospital.I called some friends based in
PH ,they cried when they
saw me.My face was almost disfigured. They
wanted to involve the police
I stopped them.
Vengeance is for God.As a Christian I have
forgiven him.But now my friends wants my uncle
to stop Chuks from the job he gave him.Left for
me,I told them to leave him let God handle the
whole thing. I have forgiven him from my heart.I
never cursed him,But God i know has a way he
pays people back.I have to stop here I am in
pains.God bless you.
All the single ladies,God will remember us
soon.God's gift is special .Let's hold on and
watch God do his wonders..

FEMI FANI KAYODE AND THE NIGHT SOIL MAN

“Night soil” is a euphemism for human faeces
collected at night from cesspits. When some of
our aged fathers and grandfathers were kids, pit
latrine was the norm in the villages while
township toilets were constructed with septic
tanks that needed to be emptied weekly or forth
nightly. At that time there were no adequate
infrastructures like sewage treatment facility or
individual septic disposal. Moreover protective
gears like those worn by Ebola nurses were not
available so the Night soil men must have
suffered a few splashes of the filth on their
garment. Not to mention the stench but they did
their job with dedication. Someone had to do the
job and remember “there is dignity in labour”.
Femi Fani-Kayode
There is a huge similarity and a major difference
in the night soil job of that era and the one Femi
Fani-Kayode has chosen to do for President
Jonathan- a man he once described as “a
President without balls”. The major difference is
the fact that FFK’s brand of Night soil job is so
undignified. How do you launder the image of a
President that you have already announced to the
world, through the internet, that he “is the
problem” with your country. Femi actually said in
his Premium Times column that “Jonathan is the
problem we have in this country today and until
he resigns, is impeached or is voted out of power
nothing will change and Nigeria will continue to
go from bad to worse.” He then said “That is what
you get when you vote for a man who never wore
shoes to school”.
Isn’t it so hilarious that this arrogant, loud-
mouthed Femi (who says Governor Amaechi used
to own only one shirt) is now the errand boy of a
man who never wore shoes to school? It’s
beyond comprehension that this Silver spoon kid
who wrote that “Jonathan has deservedly earned
such accolades as “dumb”, “clueless”,
“incompetent”, “heartless”, “corrupt”, and “very
greedy” could condescend so low as to mop after
the same “incompetent shoeless dumbo”. Once
Jonathan poopoohs in the office, in media
briefings or on the campaign ground FFK is at his
beck and call, happy to pack the s…t, package it
and label it “designers” for the media to buy and
sell to the world.
I wish I never read that article where Femi said
that this President does not understand the
meaning of the word “class” and “honesty.” Also,
that “Jonathan prides himself on his own
weaknesses and incompetence” and that “his love
for false prophets and strange women knows no
bounds and no ends.” So our President is
addicted to prostitutes and juju prophets? But he
already has two wives and we know that Daddy
G.O of Redeemed, who says all politicians are
liars, is always praying for him on teevee. So why
is he then patronising false prophets and
prostitutes? Or was FFK so ferocious in his
attacks because the government of President
Jonathan had accused him of embezzling public
funds when he was a minister? He really fought
dirty as if there were no tomorrow didn’t he? No
he fought like a drowning man.
However, he succeeded in getting the President’s
attention hence a special invitation was extended
to him to visit Aso Rock where they eventually
talked things over, “kissed” and made up. Please
don’t ask me what happened to the
embezzlement case. All I know is that FFK is in
court with EFCC over an allegation that while in
office FFK carried out SEVERAL financial
transactions and dealings in cash in excess of
500,000 thousand Naira without going through
financial institutions contrary to the laws of the
land. The best FFK could have done after they
“kissed” and made up was take a bow, thank the
President and vow never to publish any more
callous articles about his dumb incompetence.
But, wait for it, Jona needed to make a point that
he may be dumb but the Fani Kayodes of this
world are dumber! He may not be Silver spoon
like Femi but he’s got what it takes to turn a
Silver spoon kid into a Night soil man….(Pause)…
“You see, Femi, you and I can be best of pals you
know. I am ready to give you an open cheque
once you can use your impeccable grammar to
prop me up. I mean, you know I don’t have balls
you have to lend me yours so that people could
stop calling me weak. And, of course, you need
the money to maintain your “class”, and high
taste in women. I remember you once said in a
newspaper interview that you are not faithful to
your wife. At least, you and I have a lot in
common. We need each other. Those prostitutes,
sorry, strange women wanna have fund you know.
So I am game, if you are.”… “Oh why not, Mr
President, your wish is my dream.” Jona got his
pound of flesh!
One of the issues I deal with on my radio shows
is the consequences of sexual sins. You need to
hear the confessions people make to me about
their sexual liaisons. The average politicians is
ready to kill and maim just to get into a position
with a budget, loot the treasury and sleep with
friend’s wives , nieces, inlaws and just any
teenager desperate for recharge card. Sexual sin
not only wounds your soul and deadens your
conscience; it also enthrones the spirit of error. It
is quite progressive. It leaves a big hole of
insatiability in you that’s why there is a
graduation from oral to anal with one woman
today, one man tomorrow, then a prostitute next
tomorrow. Then you continue to loot and loot and
loot the public treasury in spite of the
monumental youth unemployment, non-existent
quality or free education and no proper medical
care for the poor. Each illicit sexual encounter
keeps chipping off your virtue, your morality and
deadens your conscience. And would you like to
know what happens to somebody who has no
conscience? Just the same thing that happens in
the lives of our politicians that they could wake up
from month to month living in affluence while
teachers and civil servants go home with no
salaries, no food for their families, no peace and
no self-worth. Go to the villages and see how
people are shrinking out of hunger. They look like
refugees in their own homes and those in power
are still planning to use soldiers to rig the
elections, cause war and more suffering for them.
That was an aside. Back to FFK. On that glorious
day, FFK got into Aso Rock a Jona-basher and
came out head-over heels in love with Goodluck.
When money talks, bullshit walks. Those who say
money can’t make you happy have never shopped
at Harrods!... Believe me when I say… in my
country the so-called rich are more desperate for
cash than the poor. They are kleptomaniacs, so
insatiable and their conscience is completely
dead. I used to think it’s only the Ibos of Okija
shrine fame that can do anything for money…
Suddenly FFK is screaming his lungs out
desperate to convince us that Buhari is Boko
Haram and Boko Haram is Buhari. Has he
forgotten that he once wrote in his column that
“Jonathan regards Boko Haram as his “siblings”
and “freedom fighters” so “cannot hurt them”? In
fact he stated thus: “I really wonder whose
freedom Boko Haram is fighting for, whose
interest they seek to further and protect and what
blood ties exist between them and our President”.
In conclusion he said that Jonathan and co are
“shameful and insensitive leaders who have
absolutely no empathy with or sympathy for the
many victims of Boko Haram.” To have an
articulate Fani Kayode who put these arguments
in black and white turn around now to say
Jonathan must be voted into office for another
four years of “shameful , insensitive, clueless,
dumb, corrupt and incompetent”, leadership is
devilish and criminal to say the least. I have only
quoted Femi’s words. I dare not add my own
because he has said it all. The Bible says in
Ecclesiastes 8 verse 11 that “because sentence
against an evil work is not executed speedily the
heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do
evil”.
Nigeria is a country that destroys its own. The
best brains have no fighting chance to put their
talents to good use. See how Jonathan has
reduced a brilliant Silver spoon Femi into a
mercenary. He has turned Femi into a jaguda.
There is no difference any more between him and
a slum-bred Fayose who only knows how to
make a living out of thuggery.
When Reuben Abati, Chief Press Secretary to the
President, published a dossier on how Femi ran
the A viation ministry into a state of near
collapse Femi fired a ruthless response. He listed
how Jonathan cannot account for the 100 billion
USD made from oil sale in two years, how he
squandered 67 billion USD of our foreign reserves
and how he cannot account for 350 billion Naira
on security. Then he added: “This is how weak
governments that have nothing to offer and
something to hide always behave.” He accused
Abati of going on “a delusional and self-serving
joy ride … and distasteful form of intellectual and
psychological masturbation..” Today this same
Femi has taken over Abati’s “self-serving
delusional psychological and intellectual
masturbation” role as the President’s Night soil
man. Thank God I have a degree in English
otherwise I wouldn’t have understood all these
idiotic grammar that they use to lace over
corruption and criminality. Abati must be shaking
his head in utter disbelief and amazement. Never
knew this could happen in my life time that a
Femi Fani-Kayode could be part of this
President’s attack dogs seeking to out-do
everybody else.

Classic Joke

I have been friends with this my church lady for a
year now. We met and hit it off like a roof on fire.

Stand and be counted

In 6 years of Jonathan's presidency our federation did not save a single dollar despite selling crude oil for over $100 dollars till recently..... As of today Nigeria is losing 400,000 barrels of crude oil to oil thieves to the detriment of the Nigerian people and our government is not disturbed by this shameful trend.  75 billion Naira was budgeted for the so called ex militants last year at the expense of the development of the oil producing areas.
Today in our nation  we are forced to pay a fixed charge of 750 Naira or more to the various electricity distribution companies for services  not rendered. For how long will the government continue to exploit the citizens of our nation.

Death of business man organised by his best friend

The circumstances surrounding the gruesome
murder of Tony Eze, a 39-year-old International
businessman based in Abuja, the Federal Capital
Territory, have been unravelled by detectives
attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Force
Headquarters, Abuja. The late Eze, from
Umuagede village in Nsukka L.G.A. of Enugu State
met his untimely death after a night out with
friends, including a kinsman from Eha-Alumonah
in Enugu State (name withheld).
EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT
Eyewitness account said he was shot dead by two
young men on a motor bike who closed in on him
while he was trying to avoid a porthole, just a few
meters away from the refreshment garden at
Tungama area of Zuba in the outskirts of Abuja.
He had gone to the garden for conviviality with
friends. It was learnt that on the fateful day,
November 6, 2014, the father of two was about
closing for the day’s business when his kinsman
and best friend called to request that they go out
for drinks at Zuba. He was said to have initially
hesitated before reluctantly agreeing to be at the
refreshment garden in the evening.
IN THE LIONS’S DEN
He reportedly left his shop about 5pm and got to
the garden where he met three of his friends
already seated and enjoying drinks. Crime Guard
gathered that about 7:20pm, they all set to leave,
moving in a convoy, with his best friend and
kinsman driving the car in front. Eze was the last
to join before he was blocked and shot dead
inside his car.
SYNPATHIZERS ARRIVE SCENE OF DEATH
After the owner of the garden and other
sympathizers gathered at the scene, his friends
reportedly drove back claiming that they heard a
bang at their back but thought that Eze must have
hit something and that was why they continued
without him.
ABANDONEMENT
Reports said that even after the arrival of his
friends at the scene, no serious efforts were made
to either take him to the hospital or contact the
police at Zuba. Policemen arrived the scene
around 11pm and all efforts made to revive Eze in
the hospital failed. One of the doctors was said to
have reprimanded his friends for not rushing him
to the nearest hospital immediately they arrived
the scene, saying that he could have survived the
gun shots if he had been given immediate
medical attention.
SARS AND PRIVATE EYE TO THE RESCUE
Nevertheless, it was gathered that police
detectives of SARS swung into action after it was
noticed that the police at Zuba were lukewarm
over the ugly incident. Police sources said their
efforts were complemented by those of a Lagos-
based private detectives hired by members of the
family of the deceased. According to the source:
‘’While we were combing all the nook and cranny
of Abuja for clues, the private detectives were
busy spreading dragnets all over the country and
even beyond, where the deceased had business
partners.
BREAKTHROUGH AT LAST
“A startling breakthrough came few weeks back
after the private detectives succeeded in arresting
a suspect in possession of the phone of the
deceased which was the only item his assailants
disappeared with after the incident. The suspect
turned out to be in the same Aluminium Market
where late Eze had his shop. We drilled him for
long hours until he capitulated and started
confessing how they killed the innocent young
man.”
CONFESSIONS GALORE
According to him, two people came to engage
their services for the job in their cult group. He
gave a detailed description of them and one of the
descriptions tallied with that of the late
businessman’s best friend and kinsman who also
had business in the same market with him. The
suspect said that when they asked those that
came to hire them why they wanted the man
dead, they said he had been importing goods
from abroad and needed to be silenced. They
were paid N1.2million, some of them got
N250,000 while others got N300,000 each.”
HOW OPERATION WAS EXECUTED
Giving a vivid account of how they carried out the
operation on the day in question, the suspect said
some of them arrived the restaurant earlier than
the deceased and sat by a table near where he
later sat with his best friend who hired them. ‘He
said that as soon as they were ready to go, his
friend winked at them at the nearby table and they
used their telephone to flash their colleagues who
were positioned outside the area as a signal that
they should proceed to hit their target. He further
said they were told that he would be coming in a
car behind. So, his friend quickly drove off in front
with the deceased following behind and when they
got to the point where they had to join the
expressway, the friend in front drove faster. As
soon as his friend entered the expressway two of
the hired killers blocked the businessman’s car
and one of them just pulled out his gun,
approached the driver’s side and yanked open the
door.
While Eze was passionately pleading with them to
take whatever they needed and spare his life, the
armed man shot him point blank, picked his
phone and sped off.’’
Police sources also hinted that after the arrest of
five of the suspects at the popular Aluminium
Market, Abuja, his best friend confessed during
interrogation that the deceased gave him
N5million to exchange for him around October
2014, and he was yet to pay him back before he
was killed. It was learnt that initially, he wanted to
be smart by diverting the attention of detectives
to focus their searchlight on one of the brothers to
the deceased but when he learnt that one of the
killers had confessed to the crime, he withdrew
his allegation. Sources said detectives were still
searching for the second person that hired the
killers together with the best friend to the
deceased and would soon arrest him.
FAMILY REACTS
Family sources told Crime Guard that the arrest of
their son’s supposed best friend over his death
sent shock waves all over the community.
According to a member of the family who simply
identified himself as Simon( 45) : ‘’ This is the
greatest shock we have received in our area in
recent times. That suspect is well known to all of
us as Tony’s best friend. They used to travel
together to China on business trips. In fact, he
was closer to our brother than anybody in the
family. Whenever we needed to advise our
brother, we usually channelled it through this his
friend who happens to come from Eha-Alumonah
Community, a neighbouring town in Nsukka.
Interestingly, this his friend was leading
pallbearers during Tony’s burial. He was the first
to arrive our compound before other of his friends
and business partners arrived.
He was shedding tears uncontrollably. Even after
the burial, his wife prepared our traditional food
for the bereaved family which friends usually
partake in. I can remember vividly that a few days
after Tony’s burial, the suspect told some
members of our family that he (the deceased)
owed some business associates a whooping sum
of N12 million and there was urgent need to settle
the debt but we swept it aside by telling him that
it could come up after the mourning period.
I will use this opportunity to thank the Nigeria
Police Force and the private detectives for the
success recorded so far because these startling
confessions and arrests will go a long way to
assuage our deep feeling of loss. (In tears) Now
see, for how much did they take the precious life
of this young, amiable, promising and easy-going
young man? Who will train his children and take
care of his young wife?
PROBABLE MOTIVE
Crime Guard further gathered that detectives were
working on the theory that his best friend was
envious of his progress and the boom in his
business and hatched the plan not just to
eliminate him but also to stop him from asking for
the whooping N5million he gave him to change
last October. So far, it was learnt that both the
suspect that confessed to the killing and the
deceased best friend were taken separately to the
scene of the crime and they pointed out correctly
the table where they sat and the point where Eze
was intercepted and killed.
POLICE AUTHORITIES INTERVENE
Meanwhile, it was learnt that on hearing the
progress recorded in the case, police authorities
have directed that no stone should be left
unturned in rounding up all those remotely or
otherwise connected with the assassination of the
young and promising businessman and they
should be charged to court for murder
accordingly.
